The hulii Mission
Children are curious by nature. They want to move, explore, ask a million questions, and try things for themselves. Parents want that too, just with the reassuring feeling that their child is safe, seen, and in good hands.
That’s exactly the kind of childcare we believe in. A place where children get the freedom to discover the world, while parents know their child is exactly where they should be.
At hulii, learning starts with curiosity. Children learn by playing, moving, trying things out, and making sense of what happens around them. And that’s pretty amazing. We give them room to ask their own questions, follow what catches their attention, and find things out for themselves. After all, the best kind of learning is the kind they want to keep doing.
And the same is true for us. We want to stay curious, try new things, and see where new ideas can take us. That’s a big part of why hulii is coming to the US. That’s the fun part. It keeps us moving, helps us rethink what we do, and makes us better at the work we love.
Because ultimately, the more we learn, the more we can bring back into the places we create for children and families.

A Little About Us
For more than 13 years, hulii has been creating places where children can feel safe, ask big questions, try new things, and grow into who they are. Today, more than 500 children are part of hulii across Germany, supported by almost 150 people who believe a great start in life should feel anything but ordinary.
We’ve opened new centers, learned a lot, changed even more, and kept asking the same question: how can we make early education better, more exciting, and more meaningful for children and the people who support them? Somewhere along the way, that question became bigger than daycare. We started dreaming about new ways to share what we know, train educators, create products, build new concepts, and take hulii far beyond the walls of our centers.
So now, we’re doing what we encourage children to do every day: exploring something new.
We’re bringing what we’ve learned to the United States, not to copy and paste what already exists, but to discover what hulii can become. We’ll meet new people, learn from a different culture, and build with local partners. Not everything will look the same. It shouldn’t. But the reason behind it all will stay the same: opening up new possibilities for children, families, and the people who shape their earliest years.
Learning Starts with Curiosity
Honestly, we all know it: there’s no one right way for children to learn. Some jump right in. Some watch first. Some ask a hundred questions. Others need to touch, try, move, and figure things out for themselves. What matters most is that they feel safe enough to follow their curiosity and confident enough to keep going when something doesn’t work the first time.
That’s why learning at hulii happens in the middle of everyday life. While getting dressed. Building something together. Solving a disagreement. Climbing a little higher than yesterday. Running, balancing, dancing, exploring outside, and discovering what their bodies can do. These moments may look small, but they help children become more independent, more confident, and more sure of themselves.
We pay attention to what sparks each child’s interest, give them room to try things their own way, and always stay close when they need us. At hulii, learning isn’t just about knowing more. It’s about becoming more confident, more independent, and being able to say a little more often, “I did it myself.”
